Main Cast
Yoon Eun Hye as Go Eun Chan
Gong Yoo as Choi Han Kyul
Lee Sun Gyun as Choi Han Sung
Chae Jung Ahn as Han Yoo Joo

Synopsis
Go Eun Chan is the sole breadwinner of the Go family since her father passed away. She took on many jobs, like tae-kwan-do instructor, milk sender and ramen sender. Choi Han Kyul is the errant grandson of the chairman of a big food company. He returned to Korea after a stint in US as a toy designer and his grandmother wants him to settle down, so she arranged many blind dates for him. After Eun Chan bumped into Han Kyul and was mistaken for a boy because of her boyish looks, Han Kyul decided to hire Eun Chan to be his gay lover in order to avoid the arranged dates. Desperately in need of money, Eun Chan had no choice but to accept.

Han Kyul's grandmother was furious because of Han Kyul's unsuccessful blind dates. So she came up with another plan, which is to help her friend, Mr Hong, manage his Prince Coffeeship. Han Kyul initially rejected because it was a rundown coffeeshop, but after his grandmother cut off his finances, he accepted. Han Kyul renovated the coffeeshop and employed 4 staff: Eun Chan, No Sun Ki, Jin Ha Rim and Hwang Min Yeop.
Under Han Kyul's leadership, with Mr Hong's excellent coffee and the staff's good service, the business flourished.

Eun Chan gotta know Choi Han Sung, a producer during her milk sending trips. She began to hold a torch for him secretly and they became close friends after a number of drink and talk sessions. However, Han Sung already had a 9-year girlfriend, Han Yoo Joo, an artist, so Eun Chan just treated like a big brother after that. Meanwhile, Eun Chan slowly fell in love with Han Kyul and vice versa too, but Han Kyul has thought that she is a boy, so he was confused. Eun Chan struggled to tell him the truth because she was afraid of his reaction.

My Take
Now I know why many people like this show. I thought this is one of the better shows with a good plot. I also quite like how the show portray the various love lifes of the employees in the Coffeeshop, especially Hwang Min Yeop and Eun Chan's Sister.

Cast
Ko Hyun Jung as Ko Byeong Hee
Chun Jung Myung as Park Cheol Su
Cho Chong Wook as Bae Hee Myeong

Synopsis
Ko Byeong Hee is a 33-year-old single woman working as a reporter in a pornographic magazine. Despite her age, she still holds a torch for her senior in high school and was shocked to learn that he is gay. To add to her misfortune, she found that she has cysts and require further examination to determine whether it's cancer. Thinking for the worst, she became depressed and went for a drinking spree in a suburban area outside of Seoul. Having missed the last train, she called her best friend, Park Seung Hye to come and fetch her back. Seung Hye in turn tasked her brother Cheol Su to fetch Byeong Hee back, but as events turn out, they had a 1-night stand there.

Byeong Hee was embarrased and devastated and blamed Cheol Su, a 24-year-old mechanic. However, both decided to keep this matter under wraps and move on with their lives. In the course of work, Byeong Hee met Bae Hee Myeong, a 34-year-old doctor, and Hee Myeong fell for her. Byeong Hee agreed to be his girlfriend and they started their courtship. But Cheol Su was not happy with Byeong Hee's new relationship and he started to woo her too. Byeong Hee kept rejecting him, but Cheol Su was still persistent. Hee Myeong then decided to proposed to Byeong Hee and she accepted.

Coincidentally, Byeong Hee had violent cramps at a bookstore and she contacted Seung Hye to come and fetch her. But Seung Hye was not around, and as luck would have it, Cheol Su picked up the phone and raced to Byeong Hee. Byeong Hee had the operation, and the first person she called out to after the operation is Cheol Su. This is when she realised that she has always been in love with Cheol Su, and hence she broke off with Hee Myeong. However, the couple still has to face many hurdles with family because of the 9 years age gap

My Take
This is a lighthearted comedy. Glad that I chose this show for a good laugh, after 2 very intense shows. However, I found this show not realistic because Byeong Hee has been rejecting Cheol Su all along and suddenly it just took a crisis for her to realise her love for him ?

Other than that, some scenes are pretty touching, like how Cheol Su converted a van to a campervan all by himself, just because Byeong Hee once mentioned that her dream is to tour the world with her beloved.

The love story between Byeong Hee's sister and the sister's employer is pretty comical too. It's the other extreme, a young woman with a middle-aged man. I pretty much enjoy the scenes which featuer both of them.

Cast
Lee Joon Ki as Lee Soo Hyun
Nam Sang Mi as Seo Ji Woo
Jung Kyung Ho as Kang Min Ki

Synopsis

The drama starts with a fast action car chase which ended with Lee Soo Hyun’s car falling into the sea. While Soo Hyun sinks into the sea, the drama brings us back to his childhood….As a child, Soo Hyun lived in Thailand with his CID-mother, who specialises in investigation of “Green Clan”, a secret society which killed her husband. Soo Hyun had a carefree childhood and had a good friend, Ah Li. Unknown to Soo Hyun, Ah Li’s father is one of the senior members of Green Clan. Soo Hyun then witnessed the murder of his mother at the hands of Ah Li’s father (he didn’t know because the murderer was wearing a mask, he only remembered the tattoo on his hand), then he became adopted by Kang Joong Ho (his mother’s good friend) and brought to Korea. On the other hand, Ah Li’s mother eloped with Suh Young Kil because the latter leaked Green Clan’s secrets to the police, and was given a new identity, Suh Ji Woo.

Fast forwarded, both Soo Hyun and Kang Min Ki (his adoptive father’s son) grew up to become NIS (Intelligence unit in Korea) agents. Through playboy Min Ki, Soo Hyun and Ji Woo are accidentally reunited and fell in love. However, their love is shortlived when Soo Hyun met his mother’s murderer (Ji Woo’s real father) during one of NIS mission and was sacked by NIS when he attempted to kill him. Soo Hyun was then secretly re-employed by NIS to become an undercover in Green Clan, and NIS staged an accident to fake his death.

Soo Hyun assumed the identity of Kay in Green Clan and gained the trust of Ji Woo’s real father. Unfortunately, he lost his memory in the car crash (which was shown at the start of the drama) and became a real gangster. Joong Ho attempted to revive Soo Hyun’s memory but to no avail and he died instead. Soo Hyun regained his memory with the help of Jung Hak Soo, senior NIS agent and only other person in the world who knew about his undercover status. Soo Hyun then slowly planned to seek revenge on his mother’s murderer and Ji Woo tried to stop him.

My Take
This is a very intense show, although it’s pretty fun to see the NIS missions where they use tracking devices and other high tech stuff. I didn’t mention an important character in the synopsis above…He is Soo Hyun’s mother’s friend, an ex-NIS agent specialised in snooping around. He is the catalyst of the show and also guardian angel to Soo Hyun and Min Ki. Not only did he provide important reports to both of them, gives them guidance, he also goes all out to protect both of them. In the end, he sacrificed his life to save Soo Hyun. Hmm....I'm still trying to find his name :P

I’ve been watching lots of intense shows, cannot take it anymore….The next show I watch must be a funny one !

Cast:
Gong Hyo Jin as Lee Young Shin
Jang Hyuk as Min Ki Seo
Seo Shin Ae as Lee Bom
Shin Sung Rok as Choi Suk Hyun

Synopsis
Min Ki Seo was an outstanding but arrogant doctor in Seoul. Contrastingly, his girlfriend is a nice doctor in the countryside, but she has terminal cancer and had a last wish to apologise to a little girl whom was infected by HIV due to her carelessness. Unfortunately, she died before she can say sorry, but she managed to give the big bear to the little girl. Min Ki Seo was devastated and quite his job and joined his mother's company. His mother put him under Choi Suk Hyun's mentorship, and together their first task is to find a good place on Blue Island (Suk Hyun's hometown) to develop a resort. On Blue Island, Ki Seo coincidentally met Lee Young Shin and stayed at her home.

Young Shin, is a single mother caring for her daughter Lee Bom, the girl who had HIV, and her grandfather who has Alzheimer's. Although in hardship, she is warm, positive and taught Lee Bom well. She taught her to refuse help from anyone when Lee Bom is hurt, to prevent anyone from coming into contact with her blood. The worst moment was when the whole village knew Lee Bom has HIV and wanted to throw them out. Lee Bom was initially bewildered on why her friends shunned her, but after she knew she has HIV, she closed herself to the outside world, afraid of passing the disease to her family and friends. She even ran away from home, but luckily was found by Suk Hyun, her real father.

Ki Seo grew closer to the family while experiencing the hardships with them. Slowly he fell in love with Young Shin and was converted to a warm and caring person.

My Take
It's a pretty heartwarming story. I was crying when I watched a few episodes, especially the part when Lee Bom fell down and Young Shin instructed her to clean her own blood. Having a child of my own, I can imagine Young Shin's anguish, but admire her determination to live well while she can.

Personally, I feel that this story centers more on family and social issues, rather than on the romance between Young Shin and Ki Seo. Their romance seems to be "by-the-way" developed. This is an excellent drama with a refreshing perspective, with great acting even from the extended cast, especially Seo Shin Ae (Lee Bom) and Shin Goo (Young Shin's grandfather).

According to PopSeoul, this drama unexpectedly clinched the highest viewership during the period it was aired, as compared to Witch Amusement and The Devil. See the report here.

lovers

Cast
Lee Seo Jin as Ha Kang Jae
Kim Jung Eun as Yoon Mi Joo
Jung Chan as Kang Sae Yeon
Kim Kyu Ri as Park Yu Jin

Synopsis
Yoon Mi Joo, daughter of a village pastor in one of the islands of Korea, worked her way to become a plastic surgeon. Although successful, she needs to support 6 adopted brothers and sisters back home, so she leads a frugal life in Seoul. Kang Jae, adopted by the boss of a secret society since teenage years, is a senior member of the same secret society. He has a long-time girlfriend, Yu Jin, whom he loves but refused to marry. Sae Yeon is the playboy son of Kang Jae's boss.

Kang Jae met Mi Joo when she mistook him for her pregnant sister's boyfriend. Mi Joo had wanted to confront her sister's boyfriend for dumping her sister, but Kang Jae and his gang helped her to beat him up and Mi Joo was impressed. Their paths crossed again when Mi Joo found that Kang Jae's girlfriend, Yu Jin, is her neighbour. At the same time, Sae Yeon was being matchmaked with Mi Joo by his mother, and he began to take a liking with Mi Joo.

Later, Mi Joo found that Kang Jae is the person who wanted to buy the land that her father's house is on. She met him and his right-hand man for a talk, but was being attacked by Kang Jae's enemies. Kang Jae, in order to protect her, was stabbed. Mi Joo, despite having sweared not to be involved in people's life and death, saved Kang Jae's life and nursed him back to health in the village. Their paths crossed again in China's Hainan Island, when Mi Joo accepted Sae Yeon's invitation to have "Cha Jiang" noodles there, and Kang Jae was there to bring Sae Yeon back to Korea.

As the story developed, Mi Joo and Kang Jae found themselves falling in love with each other despite finding out that Yu Jin is pregnant with Kang Jae's child, and despite Sae Yeon declaring his love for Mi Joo and Mi Joo accepted his short courtship. Fortunately or unfortunately, Yu Jin miscarriaged and Sae Yeon gave them his blessings. However, life has more in store for Kang Jae when he found out that his boss is actually and his father, and Sae Yeon was actually not his boss's son. After that a violent power struggle broke out in the gang, resulting in the death of his father. In a bid to seek revenge, Kang Jae hurt his enemy and was jailed.

Kang Jae and Mi Joo finally got together after his release.

My Take
This is one of the rare shows which has a strong sub-plot, as in the power struggle in the secret society. It is also not as slow paced as most korean drama, as you'll find new "issues" and happenings every episode to keep you glued to the TV ! I think the actors' are superb too! Especially the expressive eyes of Lee Seo Jin and Kim Jung Eun. There was one scene when Sae Yeon went to look for Mi Joo, and I saw that his eyes were all red ! Not sure whether it's a makeup effect, but Jung Chan's eyes were really red !

It's quite an enjoyable show with a handsome pair: Lee Seo Jin and Kim Jung Eun. I found that they are actual lovers in real life ! They got together after shooting this drama. Very happy for them.

Cast
Shin Dong Wook as Choi Jung Soo
Han Ji Hye as Yoon Jung-Won
Lim Jung Eun as Oh Yoon-Hyi
Kim Jung Hyun as Kim Do-Hyung

Synopsis
Choi Jung Soo was a gifted student in high school, but due to not-so-good family circumstances, he could not enter medical school even when he had extraordinary results. Fast-forwarding to 7 years later, Jung Soo was practising medicine in a hospital at a remote island in Korea although he does not have a license. He was mentored under a legendary surgeon who got ousted from Seoul long time ago.

Jung-Won was the Public Relations Manager of her Father's Hospital. One day, she and her team went to the remote island with the idea to convince the hospital to be a "sister" hospital of her Father's Hospital. Towards the end of her trip, she suddenly had acute appendicitis and need surgery urgently. Because Jung-Soo's mentor has left for Seoul to attend a medical conference, Jung Soo performed the surgery on her.

The surgery was a success. Although Jung Won left the island with her fiance, Do-Hyung, she knew that she had fallen in love with Jung Soo. Then Jung Soo got mistaken as a skilful doctor and employed by Jung Won's Father. Jung Soo accepted the job because he wanted to revenge for his Dad, who died in the same hospital because of a mis-diagnosis.

Not only did Jung Soo became the trusted doctor under Jung Won's Father, he even managed to win Jung Won's heart from Do Hyung. However, Yoon Hyi, Jung Soo's childhood friend and Do Hyung found out that he has lied about his credentials. As the story revealed, Jung Won still stood by Jung Soo even after he got jailed and her parents disowned her.

My Take
This was an average show...It was pretty slow moving in the beginning, and unbelievable too. I could not believe how could any hospital not gotten the license details from the doctor before allowing him to practice ! Oh well, but this is a show anyway.

I actually do not sympathise with Jung-Soo. Rather, I sympathise with Yoon-Hyi and Do-Hyung who did so much for Jung-Soo and Jung Won respectively.

Cast
Lee Yo Won as Bong Dal Hee
Lee Bum Soo as Ahn Joong Geun
Oh Yoon Ah as Jo Moon Kyung
Kim Min Joon As Lee Geon Wook

Synopsis
Together with 3 other houseman, Bong Dal Hee started her first year residency doctor in Seoul. Her passion for her patients were clearly reflected, even though she accidentally caused the death of one of her patients. 2 of the top surgeons in the hospital Dr. Lee Geon Wook and Dr Ahn Jong Geun slowly got attracted to her because of her passion, but it was Dr Lee, a divorcee, whom Dal Hee initially loves. However Dr Lee could not get over the relationship with his previous wife Dr Jo Moon Kyung, and their 6-year-old son (although he found that the son was fathered by someone else), so Dal Hee let him go. Slowly, Dr Ahn, her mentor in the hospital, and Dal Hee grew fond of each other after both of them gave each other support to overcome their crises in their lives and in their careers.

There are many short stories in this drama, such as the politics among its management, the childhood of Dr Ahn and Dr Lee, the near-infection of Dr Ahn, the death of a little boy, the attack on Bang Dal Hee, the little stories of the other resident doctors, and the grand finale of the near-death of Dal Hee.

Dal Hee has a congenital heart disease and she had 2 implant operations before she joined as a resident. Her condition worsened after she unknowingly caught an infection during an attack on her by a prisoner. She did not tell Dr Ahn, even though he is a cardiac specialist and he repeatedly ask her to go for ultrascan. Dr Ahn was shocked by her condition after she fainted on the job. He operated on her, supported and encouraged her to become a doctor again.

My Take
This drama is very much like Grey's Anatomy. It's fast moving, realistic and touching. After I did some research on the net, I found out that this drama had one of the highest budget of all Korean dramas because it showcases real equipment and instruments. This is also a drama which korean doctors like to watch and recommend. I am touched by the doctors' dedication and passion, and their love lifes. Initially I was very put off by Dr Ahn, because he was arrogant, self-opinionated and loud. But as the drama moves on, I find that he and Dal Hee were the most dedicated doctors. I must admit that like a lot of fans, I'm being charmed by Dr Ahn. Aired during the same period with Dal Ja's Spring and Goong S, it achieved the highest viewership. It's currently on my number one list of drama which I'll like to watch again.

WifeGangster3

Synopsis

In case you think that this is a continuation of My Wife is a Gangster 2, it's not. A collaboration between Hong Kong and Korea, Shu Qi plays the Chinese-Korean girl, Aryoung, daughter of a HK Triad Head. She offended some of her dad's friends, so her dad ordered her to leave the country for her own safety. She went to Korea to escape from the HK triads and also to look for her mother. She was hosted by Ki Chul, a gangster but kindhearted in nature, and his two friends. Ki Chul and his friends tried to protect Aryoung in many occasions when she was attacked, without knowing Aryoung can fight better than them. Hence through the many fights and after Aryoung's father's death, Aryoung fought to took over her father's triad, which she was successful in. It's only upon Aryoung's departure that Ki Chul followed her all the way from Korea. Aryoung accepted Ki Chul despite their cultural and language differences.

Cast
Lee Bum Soo as Ki Chul
Shu Qi as Aryoung

My Take
An ok movie, I find that not much depth though because I think the producer's focus was on the fighting scenes. It's more a comical show then the usual HK-style Triad show. I thought the catalyst of the show is the translator, whom Ki Chul employed to be able to communicate with Aryoung. She adds much comical essence to the show. She is the lady on the right of Lee Bum Soo in the photo above.

Cast

Han Ga In as Ma Yoo Hee
Jae Hee as Chae Moo Ryong
Jun Hye Bin as Nam Seung Mi
Kim Jeong Hoon as Yoo Joon Ha
Dennis Oh as Johnny

Synopsis

The drama started off with Ma Yoo Hee being potrayed as a Witch. The Managing Director of an advertising company under her father's conglomorate, she is cold, sacarstic, and no-nonsense. This was because her father treated her like a boy and her mother walked out of the family, so she did not receive love since young. Notorious for her quirky behaviour, nobody wants to be her housekeeper. It was then she employed Chae Moo Ryong, an ex-medical student but turned aspiring chef. Moo Ryong agreed to work as her housekeeper and love consultant, to pay off his debt for crashing into her expensive car. At the same time, it was a relief for Moo Ryong, who didn't have a place to stay (because his brother got married and they run out of rooms).

Through his childhood girlfriend Sung Mi, Moo Ryong managed to secure a position as a junior chef under Johnny, a world-reknown chef who came to Korea. His culinary skills flourished under Johnny's guidance, and at the same time, Yoo Hee's looks and confidence in love flourished under's Moo Ryoung's excellent makeover.

Yoo Hee' new image attracted both her old friend Johnny and her first love Joon Ha, a doctor who returned from overseas. Despite Johnny's revelation, Yoo Hee rejected him. But Joon Ha was pretty successful in winning Yoo Hee's love. Unknowingly to Moo Ryoung, he has also fallen for Yoo Hee.

Just before Yoo Hee's and Joon Ha's engagement, Moo Ryong found that Joon Ha had been wooing Yoo Hee under her father's instruction because her father did not want Yoo Hee to fall in love with himself. He was furious and revealed it to Yoo Hee. She wanted to call off the wedding, but Joon Ha met with an accident and hurt his right hand and could not practise surgery anymore. Despite finding out that the injury is fake later, Yoo Hee decided to be back be Joon Ha in order not to disappoint her dad.

However, Yoo Hee decided to live for herself at the moment when they were taking their vows and ran off with Moo Ryoung.

My Take

I liked this show in the beginning, until it kinda become draggy towards the middle. I also find some parts of the story to be unrealistic. Especially the part about Moo Ryoung giving up so many opportunities to be a top Chef, just to be with Yoo Hee. He left in the middle of a competition to run to Yoo Hee's wedding. He turned down a top French Chef's invitation to understudy him, and he also gave up the chance to work with Johnny in New York. It's a surprise that Yoo Hee loves such an emotional man who doesn't care for his career. Oh well, maybe because she is rich, so it doesn't matter.

He succeeded and Dong Gyu became demoted from the General Manager to manager of a loss-making dumpling subsidiary. Soo Ha helped Chan Min to experiment and introduce a new dumpling which tasted just like those made in Hwa Ahn Tang, which boosted the sales of the product, and touched the president.

My Take

This is a great after-dinner show. Straightforward plots and some parts offer much comical relief. Even the OST is comical!

200-beauty

Cast

Kim Ah-jung as Kang Han-na
Ju Jin-mo as Sang Jun

Synopsis

Kang Han-na is a very fat girl whose job is a backstage singer and a telephone sex worker, because of she had a beautiful voice but not a beautiful body. She was the backstage singer for Ammy, who has a beautiful body, but terrible voice. Han-na idolises her company's producer, Sang Jun, whom she thinks that truly cares about her. Unfortunately, during the post-concert celebration, Han-na not only got ridiculed by her colleagues and Ammy, she also overheard Sang Jun's conversation with Ammy in the toilet. Sang-jun told Ammy that even though they are just using Han-na for her voice, they must be kind to her so she will not walk out on them.

Furious, Han-na approached one of her telephone-sex clients, a plastic surgeon for a total makeover, without anyone knowing, not even her best friend, Chung-min. Han-na re-appeared one year later, totally slim and beautiful. Non of her past acquiantances recognised her, not even Chung-min. But she managed to convinced Chung-min that she is Han-na with a matching tattoo that they got previously. With Chung-min's help, Han-na managed to have an audition with the Sang-jun's singing company under a bogus name "Jenny", and Jenny very quickly became the next Korean pop sensation because of her great vocals and looks.

All was well, until Han-na refused to acknowledge her senile Dad, for fear of Ammy recognising her. Chung-min was very disappointed with Han-na's behaviour too. The cover was blown when Sang-jun found out that Jenny is Han-na due to the similarities that they have while making notes on the music sheet.

Han-na could not carry with her first performance after that because she felt that she has lost her family and friends. So she did a declaration during the performance which shocked the audience. But slowly, the audience came to accept whom she is, and Han-na finally is able to ditch the identity of Jenny and become herself once more.

My Take
This movie touched on the topic of plastic surgery, which Korea is so famous about. The movie shows that beauty is only skin deep, it's the internal qualities of a person which is important. On the hand, I thought the movie also shows that without beauty, you will take a longer and harder time to succeed in life. Just take a look at Han-na, she has to bear the pain of the surgery before she is able to do what she wanted. Oh well, a double-edge sword right ? The OST is fabulous!

Eugene as Yuh Bong Soon [Real name given by Biological mother is Yeo Yoon He]
Lee Min Ki as Nam Bong Ki
Ryu Jin as Jang Joon Won

Synopsis
Yuh Bong Soon, a village girl, was enjoying her life in the mountains until her foster grandmother passed away. She came to the city to look for her parents and met Nam Bong Gi's Dad who pitied her (because she was pickpocketed) and allowed her to stay in his house. Nam Bong Gi's family were all working in the Presidential Residence, hence she managed to get a job as an assistant cook in there. This show then goes on to highlight the various relationships of the staff in the Presidential Residence, with special focus on Yuh Bong Soon, of course. She falls for Jang Joon-Won, the President's son, a doctor, who is married and his wife is suffering from dementia and has a five year old daughter. As Bong-Soon finds herself falling in love with Joon-Won, we also find a love triangle building up, when Bong-Ki, the President's family's bodyguard, starts to fall for Bong-Soon.

My Take
I like the show. My sister doesn't like the ending though, although I think otherwise. I admire the various sacrifices Nam Bong Ki did for Bong Soon, and could n0t resist the part when Bong Ki told Bong Soon "I love you" in different languages.

Throughout the relationship, Tae Woong managed to find himself again and even earned a phd after Bo Ra's death. Bo Ra, managed grow from a icy cold person to a warm and nice person.

My Take:

Synopsis

This drama is about a famous Gisaeng in olden Korea, Hwang Jin-I. Gisaeng is the Korean equivalent of geisha. Heon-keum, Jin-I's birth mother and a gisaeng herself, gave Jin-I away to a temple after she was born, hoping to change Jin-I's destiny, because Korean law at that time states that daughters of gisaengs must become gisaengs. However, Jin-I saw a performance by gisaengs when she was 10 and fell in love with their music and dance. The gisaeng mistress, Yim Baek Moo, saw Jin-I's talent and recruited her and at the same time, Jin-I is reunited with her mother at the Gyobang (Gisaeng's house).

Jin-I blossomed under Baek Moo's teaching, however, she fell in love with a nobleman's son, Kim Eun Ho. Due to the difference in their social status, their love was strongly objected (by both sides) and Eun Ho died of a broken heart. From then on, Jin-I sweared to take revenge on all noblemen and on Baek Moo, because she believed the latter masterminded the entire thing.

Fast forwarded, Jin-I (Gisaeng name: Myung-Yol) became one of the most sought-after gisaeng in Korea, due to her beauty, wit and musical talent, but she never danced because she could not forget her first love. Then in a contest with her rival, she re-discovered her love for dancing. At the same time, she slowly fell in love with a high-ranking official, Kim Jung Han, who touched her with his sincerity and love. However, because of a dance glitch and the difference in their social status, the King put them to death. Jin-I managed to touch the King with a beautiful dance and begged him to release both of them but back to their original status and never to contact each other again, of which the King agreed.

With that Jin-I resumed her life as a gisaeng and became one of the best dancers in Korea.

My Take
The show lived up to its name. It is colourful, well-shot, touching and has memorable OST. I'm listening to it now, as I type this! 1 thing I do not understand is that why Kim Jae Won is rarely mentioned or not even featured in the drama photo although he is one of the main cast. The guy on the right in the photo above is Byuk Kye Soo, played by Yoo Tae Joon, who is the King's relative who tried to but could not win Jin-I's love. Ha Ji Won doesn't look her age as she is paired with 2 man younger than her: Geun Seok who is 20 years old and Jae Won who is 26.

After operation, Hyun Suh spent his last moments with the 2 persons he loved most in his life: Young In and his son.

My Take

I feel that the plot is excellent and I find the cast fantastic, especially Ahn Jae Wook. He is able to pull off the character of Hyun Suh superbly, as per his previous debut in Oh Pil Seung. Although the ending is sad, but I thought it was very touching. Highly recommended.

My Take

Quite like this show when I was watching it. Love the OST, the handsome Lee Min Ki, and the charming Lee Hyun Woo. However, the plot was similar to My Lovely Sam Soon so the novelty has worn off. I watched this show in May, and posted this in June and found that I've forgotten most of the story ! Maybe not so impressionable.

Synopsis

Also known as Country Princess, this series mainly describes the life of a girl, Lee Eun-hee. She was the illegitimate child of a wealthy businessman's son, who died in an accident. As fate would have it, her mum gave birth to her in a farmer's house and died soon after. The farmer raised Eun-hee and his daughter, Lee Keum-hee, who was borned just a few minutes before her. As the farmer's wife was biased against Eun-hee, she gave her tons of farmwork and hence her studies suffered and she got into lots of trouble at school, whereas Keum-hee's excelled in her studies and was a model student. Just when Keum-hee was supposed to go to Seoul for her university studies, the farmer died in a fire and hence the family lost their breadwinner. Also, as fate would have it, Eun-hee's real grandfather, a wealthy businessman, came to search for her, but for the sake for Keum-hee's future, the farmer's wife lied that Keum-hee is the real granddaughter. The story then develops the life of the 2 sisters, Keum-hee as the granddaughter of a rich man and Yun-hee as a single mother struggling to survive in Seoul. It also highlights strongly Eun-hee's strong will in whatever she do, like ability to save her employer, Suh In-woo, from bankruptcy and ability to handle multiple setbacks in her life, such as having a child born out-of-wedlock and handle the farmer's wife's cancer. The most touching part is the filial peity that Eun-hee showed even when the farmer's wife treated her badly. In a complete contrast, Keum-hee is unfilial and her plots against Eun-hee when she knows that Eun-hee is the real granddaughter.

Cast

Bae Doo Na as Lee Eun-hee
Shin Sung Woo as Suh In-woo
Kim Yoo Mi as Lee Keum-hee
Kang Dong Won as Min Ji-hoon

My Take

You'll love this story if you like complicated soap operas. Very different from the normal love stories of Korean Drama, I quite like the plot as it adds a different dimension to the Kdrama. Unfortunately, I think this drama is not very popular, as I found the VCDs in a shop on the promotion rack. :)

Youtube and OST

I cannot find any because the show and the cast are not very well-known :)

Year Aired: 2003

Synopsis

Oh Pil Seung is a free-spirited fishmonger in one of the outlaying towns of Korea. He went to Seoul for better prospects and put up at his friend's house. Unknowing to him, his grandmother is the chairman of a conglomerate in Korea, and has been looking for him since the death of her other grandson.

So Pil Seung became the managing director and the heir-apparent to the company, and moved out of his friend's house unwillingly. Because by this time, he has fallen for his friend's sister, Bong Soon-young, who doesn't reciprocate his love yet find him irritating especially while he was working as a mover in the same supermarket with her. Instead, she fell in love with Yoon Jae-woong, the company's Director of Sales.

Knowing that he has limited education and absolutely no knowledge of running a business, Pil Seung's grandmother employed Noh Yoo-jung to be his personal assistant.
Yoo Jung proved herself to be a good guidance to his boss and able to save him on multiple occasions.

Because the supermarket is not profiting, Jae Wong proposed to close it, but was vehemently rejected by Pil Seung. Pil Seung, the MD then came down to the supermarket to start a campaign in a bid to boost sales. Finally the supermarket is able to remain open. (Oh, I missed to mention that Pil Seung's company manages the supermarket that Soon Young is working in)

Slowly, to the lower level workers, Pil Seung is known to be a kind-hearted boss. His kind-heartedness also touched Yoo Jung, who unknowingly has fallen for him. However, resentment to him is still on the high. Finally Pil Seung's parentage was questioned and he left the company. But his grandmother asked him to return, but he still gave up the position in the end.

Cast

Ahn Jae Wook as Oh Pil-seung
Chae Rim as Bong Soon-young
Ryu Jin as Yoon Jae-woong
Park Sun Young as Noh Yoo-jung (Pil-seung's assistant)

My Take
I love this show. I like the charismatic Ahn Jae Wook and his successful potrayal of a fishmonger to a humble managing director. However, not sure what's on the scriptwriter's mind, because it wasn't clear whether Pil-Seung and Soon Young got together in the end. I know Soon Young and Jae Wong broke up though.
